At Sparks Fly Electrical we often get asked how much it costs to change light fittings or install fans, upgrade boards, wire a home or commercial premise or simply move a switch. They’re tough questions to answer in general terms because every job is different. Unlike some services where a standard price can be set, electrical work depends on a lot of things.
We think that nothing is more important than electrical safety so depending on what you require you might need to consider if your electrical board is up to date. If it isn't, upgrading circuits or your board to make things safe and meet legal requirements might be necessary.
Once that’s out of the way, the kind of things that might impact the cost of your job include:
- Do we need to get into your roof space and if so do you have a tiled roof or a tin/colourbond roof. Sometimes we’ll need to remove whole panels from your tin roof to get the access we need. We’re more than happy to do it, but it takes time.
- Do you already own the fixture that you want installed? If you want us to source it for you the cost is going to vary based on the style, colour and quality that you want - we can of course find you something within an agreed price range. We recommend doing a little bit of research before contacting us so that you have an idea of what you are looking for.
- Will we need to move something for you and will we need to plaster holes as a result? We’re experienced at plastering and can take care of all the holes that a fixture move leaves, but this can add to the cost of your job.
The best advice we can give you when you’re requesting a quote is to let us know as much information as you can. This will help to ensure that no last minute surprises arise when we arrive to do your job. We’ll ask lots of questions too if we need more information - we think it’s worth it to make sure you get the service that you expect and deserve.
